Job Information

OBJECTIVE:

Caregivers are responsible for assisting residents in all activities of daily living except for medication management and some therapies and treatments. Activities of Daily Living include: mobility, safety, hearing, vision, speech, cognition and behavior, showering, dressing, grooming, laundry, housekeeping, dining, toileting, and activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Check in with the Med Aide on your shift and the Caregivers on the shifts before and after yours.
  • Check the Communication Book at the beginning of each shift; read and initial all entries from your last day of work. Read and initial any new memos. Read and initial 24-Hour Report.
  • Learn how to complete required paperwork, including documenting in Communication Book, Progress Notes, Incident Reports, and others.
  • Provide each resident with assistance in Activities of Daily Living according to his/her Care Plan.
  • Assist residents with getting ready for medical appointments, activities, meals, etc.
  • As showers and laundry are completed, initial the appropriate list signifying that the task has been completed.
  • Report any resident concerns to the med Aide or Nurse, such as unusual behaviors, changes in physical, emotional, or mental status, etc.
  • Report any maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Department, such as leaky faucets, pet damage, continuous odors, burned out light bulbs, shower heads that don’t work, carpet, stains, etc.
  • Assist in Dining Room, as needed. Duties may include setting tables, serving, cleaning up, assisting residents with eating, and delivering and picking up of trays.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties, as needed.
  • All other job-related duties, or as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness to show pride in Harvest Homes when talking to others, dealing with outside resources, or performing services within the facility.
  • Ability to promote a professional image on the phone or in person through attitude, mannerisms, and attire.
  • Genuine concern for and the ability to work with the elderly.
  • Ability to work as a team member with residents and other employees of varying cultural, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Dependability.
  • Ability to work well on your own without constant supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, and in writing, in English.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism and a willingness to correct mistakes.
  • Willingness to complete 12 hours of inservice per year.
  • Willingness to obtain Food Handlers Card if job duties include food preparation.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Shifts:

We are a 24/7 facility that is open 365 days a year.

ALL NEW STAFF MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS.

Morning Shift:   6am-2pm

Evening Shift:    2pm-10pm

NOC Shift:           10pm-6am
