Founded in
1965
HISTORY OF HARVEST HOMES
Reverend Ernest and Allene Moyer began dreaming of building a retirement home on their property near the Port of Portland in the 1950s. Construction began on a 13-room building in the early 1960s and the Moyer family obtained their first Residential Care Facility (RCF) license in 1965. When Reverend and Mrs. Moyer retired in the 1970s, they sold the business to their son, Mike, and their daughter-in-law, Lyndia. Over the years, Harvest Homes has grown and expanded, rooms have been added, and new licenses have been obtained, but through it all, Harvest Homes has remained a small, family business with a commitment to providing a loving and caring home for seniors in North Portland.
Harvest Homes joined the Vanda Health family of communities in June of 2023. Vanda Health is a small, senior living management company in Oregon, owned and operated by Raeann and Luke Voorhies. Raeann Luke and the entire Vanda Health team are committed to honoring the Moyer Family’s long legacy and to carrying on Harvest Homes’ important work of touching lives with love.
